I'm off for nearly five weeks before this gig. I've been to Paris and back in the meantime. Life is good, but I haven't touched my guitar for some time. I practice pretty heavily before this gig and am feeling pretty good. Psyched, even.
I had been told by the Cafe Aroma Borealis guy that I will not be allowed to use any amplification at my next gig, so i decide to try out the "unplugged" Big Face at the Coffee Co. This turns out to be a major mistake, as the place inexplicably fills with people, making it next to impossible for anyone to hear me. Those who are really interested grab a seat closeby and I make like a minstrel and go table to table to make up for my volume deficiency.
This gig rocks anyway. People who have never seen me before are complimenting me on their way out and my website gets an inordinate number of hits that evening. People outside of my circle are starting to notice. Oh yeah, I also sign my first autograph as Frankie Big Face for one of my students who is just a little too obsessed with my music and shows up with a CD-R he made, complete with cover art. Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo.....
